It seems as though there is a serious shortage of forks at meal hall lately, especially at the cutlery station by the condiments. I spoke with manager Becky Kennedy about replacing the soup spoons with forks, as most people get their soup spoons by the soup… Other than that meal hall was rather plain today, I enjoyed the SFC, and the bacon, which lately it seems to be extra crispy.

One thing that someone mentioned to me is that the veggie burgers are very dry, and seem cold when people take them.

Also the line in MoMo’s was insanely long tonight. It is good to see that they have two cash registers, but unless they are both being used there was no point in adding the second one. Also to make the line go faster we should be able to fill out our own sub forms and have the person at the register sign them.

One thing that was interesting was eating with members of Acadia Safety and Security, as many of them had not eaten at Wheelock since Chartwells had taken over. Their opinion were very mixed from “Somebody stop me before I eat everything here” to “It’s just as ‘meh’ as I remember it.” There was a general consensus however that the ice cream was way to hard. The ice cream battle seems to be one that will never be won.

Today I really enjoyed the slouvaki on the pita, as well as the pasta station that was at lunch. It is nice to see the people working the menutainment (stir-fry) station adding more if the customer wants it, not just fulfilling the role of the stir fry Nazi and saying “No extra meat for you!” The garlic fingers that were available over the last couple days were also very welcome.

The 14th was alright, but there wasn’t anything too special, the curried lamb was pretty good, but the best item by far was the chicken Alfredo pasta that I had. Also worth noting was the extra crispy bacon today at breakfast

Although today was good, the quarter chicken dinners, the soft taco bar, and the grilled chicken salad were all big hits. At the taco bar however, the service was slow to keep the cheese and lettuce topped up. At one time the lettuce was just in a puddle of water. Also the cake that was brought with Dr. Gail Dinter-Gottlieb tonight was excellent.

I am looking forward to seeing the return of the curly fries tomorrow.

Today should once again be a pretty good day in meal hall, with a lot of good choices, however it fails in comparison to yesterday.

Yesterday was epic, to say the least, the new glasses finally out, that brightened up everybody’s day for sure. Not to mention the garlic fingers, chicken burger, bangers and mash, the broccoli and cheese soup, but the smash ‘bounce off the floors’ hit was the potato skins. These were delicious. If I had it my way I would put this line up out on Fridays and call it “Fat Friday,” but that wouldn’t go over too well with most of the student body. The pita’s were being heated up this time, but they need to be heated with the meat as to absorb the meat grease that softens them up, a couple extra strips of donair meat would be nice as well.

One thing that I personally would like to see, as well as many others I am sure is the amount of filling on the subs from Mo Mo’s. It really seems like there is a serious lack of meat or hummus on these subs. There is also a general agreement that the quality of the meal exchange program has vastly gone down hill.

I am looking forward to this day at meal hall, garlic fingers; hopefully the donairs will be good, potato skins, garlic bread, all the bad stuff, but maybe I will have a bowl of soup to make it a little bit healthy.

The only comment I have from this weekend is my disappointment in the meal exchange

Meal Exchange

•March 11, 2007 • Leave a Comment

Around 10:40 tonight I went to the SUB to do something I do regularly…a simple meal exchange, I got a bottle of water and a sub with hummus. When I ordered I was disappointed by the lack of stock in Mo Mo’s, no yougrt, an entire fridge was empty, no whole wheat buns, no cheddar or Swiss cheese, and a lack of sandwich meat.

After waiting about 20 minutes for my sub with extra mozzarella cheese I took it home making a mistake I so often do…forgetting to check to make sure my order was correct. It wasn’t there was only a regular amount of mozzarella cheese, much much worse though, there was no hummus. Needless to say I am not pleased, and I am sure that there are many others whom are disappointed with the lack of stock in Mo Mo’s
